AIA NC Center for Architecture and Design Competition

In the development of the program for the AIA NC design competition the developers pro-forma allotted for a 20,000-ft.² maximum building for the site. Evaluations by development committee suggested building to the capacity of allotment in order to procure tenants to supplement the operating cost. The conclusions of the competition program committee elected to initiate the competition with a smaller footprint. Having worked on both the pro-forma and the competition program, my entry examined the proposed facility and additional tenant occupations. Considered as a big-box solution, the proposed 20,000-ft.² facility houses both the intended 12,000 ft.² AIA North Carolina facility and an additional small business incubator space related to the architectural community.
